The text addresses the theme of teaching in Early Childhood Education, aiming to analyze the advances and challenges faced by teachers who work with young children. As a research problem, it investigates the main advances and challenges of teaching in Early Childhood Education. The study is based on authors such as Tardif and Lessard (2014), Nóvoa (1995), Pimenta and Libâneo (2002), and Perondi and Feldkercher (2020). This is a qualitative research of an interpretative nature, based on the analysis of bibliographic sources and descriptive data, seeking to understand the investigated phenomenon. The results indicate that teaching in Early Childhood Education has experienced significant advances, such as the definition of age groups served in daycare centers and preschools, the appreciation of the pedagogical specificity of this level of education, and the recognition of the educational role combined with care. It is concluded that there are still challenges to be faced, especially the need for effective public policies, adequate physical spaces, and the strengthening of teacher training and professional recognition.
