Educational video as a didactic resource has gained ground since World War II, but with the advancement of technologies in society, video has become present in different tools, platforms and social networks, thus making its use in the classroom essential to improve learning outcomes. Thus, the objective of this work is to investigate, in recent literature, the main characteristics of videos that engage students. In this context, the work presents a descriptive review of recent international literature from the year 2014. With a quantitative and qualitative analysis of the data using Bibliometrix and software Cmap Tools, with word cloud and conceptual map, the main concepts about video are presented in general. educational, engagement and multimedia learning. This study contributes to the description of the importance of knowing the characteristics of an educational video that will lead to the students' learning objective and also shows where these studies are being developed in the world.
