Health and safety at work in Technical and Technological Education: reflections from the curriculum of two technical courses at the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology Sul-rio-grandense (IFSul)

Abstract

This article addresses the issue of health and safety at work, with a focus on preventing accidents at work, seeking to analyze the role of education in training professionals prepared to carry out their activities safely and within current rules and regulations, without putting your health and physical integrity, as well as that of your co-workers, at risk. To this end, the curricular matrices and some syllabuses of the Building Technician and Mechanical Technician courses at IFSul are analyzed, observing the importance of teaching for professional training. The methodology used was descriptive, bibliographic and documentary research. The use of individual and collective protective equipment in the exercise of a job that poses a potential risk to professional workers was addressed, as well as the impact of work accidents on the public treasury based on INSS data that confirm the relevance of discussions like this. The importance of curricular components focused on this theme is observed to consolidate an educational path that trains professionals who are aware, capable and responsible in the face of the challenges and risks associated with their professions.
