Abstract

This paper aims to analyse the impact of social distancing public legal actions as a restraint for Covid-19, at the municipal level, in Araranguá, SC, Brazil. Municipal decrees and ordinances about the issue were compiled, as well as the tabulation of disease cases provided by the City Government. We analyse mobility data from economic sectors provided by Google Analytics. A mathematical model based on Kermack and McKendrick’s SIR (1927) was built and solved in Geogebra. Determination coefficient R21 pointed to a good data fit by the model. Simulations signed the possibility of contamination up to 90% of the population once maintaining basic reproduction number R0 close to 2.5. Stricter social distancing legal actions would be able to avoid almost all Covid-19 deaths of municipal residents. Statistical analysis showed strong correlation between economic sector’s mobility and disease confirmed cases, with larger influence by retail and leisure.
