Abstract

This work proposes to approach the environmental theme in basic education from Physics content, using data from Remote Sensing (RS). Initially, we articulate the Brazilian legislation on Environmental Education (EE) with the literature, in journals, regarding research in teaching Physics and its relationship with EE. In sequence, we present some situations that could be addressed in the classroom using satellite images. Subsequently, some physical principles of SR are addressed, highlighting the role of solar and terrestrial radiation and the recording of this radiation by sensors. We then present some results estimated from RS data for Surface Temperature (St), Terrestrial Radiation (long wave radiation - LWR) and Vegetation Index by Normalized Difference (IVDN) for different locations. The results demonstrate the importance of preserving vegetation to maintain milder temperatures. The proposal allows to articulate aspects of the environmental theme to the teaching of Physics, extending aspects of the scientific content to socio-environmental phenomena beyond the classroom, making it possible to relate the Physics curriculum the local context in which the students live.
