Abstract

Herbivory caused by phytophagous insects is one of the main limiting factors in agricultural production. Among the relevant pests, the coffee leaf miner Leucoptera coffeella (Lepidoptera: Lyonetiidae) stands out as a key pest of Coffea arabica. The objective of this study was to evaluate the physiological responses of C. arabica plants subjected to insecticides (chemical and biological) and to resistance inducers for the control of L. coffeella. Seven treatments were applied: Metarhizium anisopliae, Potassium Silicate, M. anisopliae + Potassium Silicate, M. anisopliae + Beauveria bassiana, Acetaprimid + fenpropathrin, Lufenuron, and water (control). The evaluation considered the incidence of leaf mines formed and the physiological responses to the attack. For statistical analysis, the generalized linear model (GLM) was used, along with hierarchical cluster analysis and heat maps. The insecticide Acetaprimid + fenpropathrin was the most efficient, while Potassium Silicate helped mitigate stress and improve plant physiology, reducing herbivory.
