Financial Education is a teaching process in which individuals inserted and active in society improve their understanding of financial concepts and products, so that, with information, training and guidance, they can develop the values and skills necessary to make informed decisions . It is important to highlight that the present study is linked to the master's thesis entitled UEPS for the investigation of Financial Education in Youth and Adult Education (EJA) and is linked to the Postgraduate Program in Mathematics Education and Physics Teaching (PPGEMEF) from the Federal University of Santa Maria (UFSM) – RS. This article aims to present a potentially significant teaching unit (UEPS) for teaching Financial Education through interdisciplinary didactic situations that generate transformations in treatments and conversions of Semiotic Representation Records, promoting criticality and the development of Financial Literacy. To this end, qualitative research is carried out with an exploratory theoretical and bibliographic nature. The teaching unit is methodologically based on Marco Antonio Moreira's Theory of Critical Meaningful Learning. The teaching unit highlighted here is called Is eating expensive? and is aimed at the Final Years of Elementary School, specifically, the 6th year, involving the theme of the Basic Basket that relates everyday situations of economic and financial operations to the character of a balanced and sustainable life in the face of decision-making. It is expected that the teaching unit will increasingly cover the mobilization of different records, seeking relationships between mathematical concepts/content in the face of consumption situations in the environment of young people and adults with the aim of simulating and provoking reflective aspects in the process of financial deliberation .
