Abstract

The aim of this study was to analyze stages of subtitle production for the deaf and Hard-of-Hearing and translation processes in the language pair Libras (Brazilian Sign Language) – Portuguese. Through a documental and qualitative research, we have investigated how such procedures were developed by the "TradInter Lab: laboratory of accessible audiovisual translation and interpretation Libras - Portuguese" at UFRJ (Federal University of Rio de Janeiro) to promote communicative accessibility in audiovisual content of academic events. The theoretical foundation is based on studies about audiovisual translation and communicative accessibility, Brazilian legal norms, and the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on these processes. Preliminary results point to ways for an increasingly accessible audiovisual translation.
