Abstract

The curriculum organization of Brazilian graduate courses is based on the National Curriculum Guidelines proposed by the Brazilian National Education Council. In April 2019, new guidelines were instituted for engineering degrees. Thus, this paper aims to evaluate the changes in the new resolution in order to verify the main adjustments that the engineering programs will have to make in their curricula to align with the new guidelines. The methodology comprises a literature review and documentary research, using the relevant legislation to analyze the foreseen changes, as well as papers and books for discussing important aspects. The study showed that the new guidelines bring several significant changes in order to adapt the curricula to the current engineering context. There are important challenges regarding the readjustment of curricula and some criticisms of the direction given by the guidelines. Finally, it is expected that this research will help to clarify the most important points of the new curricular guidelines of engineering graduate programs.

Possui graduação em Engenharia Mecânica pela Universidade de Passo Fundo (2015) e mestrado em Engenharia pela Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (2018). Atualmente é professor de ensino básico, técnico e tecnológico do Instituto Federal Sul-Rio-Grandense, campus Passo Fundo.
