Abstract

Corrosion is a result of destructive interaction between material and environment being the result of humidity percolation in the concrete pores that reaches the reinforced steel. This commonly relates to mistakes made during the construction stage that reinforces the importance to know the origin and the cause of the corrosion as well as the construction history in order to determine when the pathology problem occurred and provide an effective solution to the problem. This study aims to identify the main causes of corrosion in a reinforced concrete structure of an elevated reservoir and introduce repairs strategies to it. The present study was implemented in a club in Juiz de Fora – MG during a technical nature visit to an elevated reservoir swimming pool whose structure presented failure in the structure.
