Abstract

The study aimed to analyze the pedagogical practices of Physical Education (PE) teachers at Federal Institute of Rio Grande do Sul (IFSul), in order to highlight elements which promote the development of student’s autonomy. On average, seven observations of the pedagogical practices of four effective PE teachers from IFSul were conducted during the first semester of 2019, supported by an observation tool. During the data analysis, we have approached the principles of the Discursive Textual Analysis, supported by NVivo 12 program, which helped to systematize the results. The categories highlighted that practices, which work with these elements, are promoting the development of students' autonomy. The study was able to demonstrate how PE, as a curricular component of the Integrated High School courses at IFSul, can contribute to human formation, which is an important factor for its legitimacy at this level of education.
