Gamification in the teaching of chemistry: a review of research in the period 2010 - 2020

Abstract

This article shows a study of the state of knowledge, which aims to promote a holistic view of gamification applied to education in the last decade, based on works published in the annals of 7 chemistry and science events, with gamification as the main theme. Scientific event was the publishing sector chosen for data collection due to its importance in the practice and training of teachers, the chosen events were: ‘Congresso Brasileiro de Química’ (CBQ), ‘Simpósio Brasileiro de Educação Química’ (SIMPEQUI), ‘Encontro Nacional de Ensino de Química’ (ENEQ), ‘Encontro Nacional de Pesquisa em Educação em Ciências’ (ENPEC), ‘Reunião Anual da Sociedade Brasileira de Química’ (RASBQ), ‘Encontro Nacional de Jogos e Atividades Lúdicas no Ensino de Química, Física e Biologia’ (JALEQUIM) e ‘Simpósio Nacional de Ensino de Ciência e Tecnologia’ (SINECT). With the search process, 11 studies were found, being researches of theoretical study and application. In the researches analyzed, the authors report that the elements of games used in gamification have the potential for engagement and motivation that benefit learning, can be applied in different formal segments of education, and the use of digital technological resources is not mandatory.
