Abstract

The study aims to analyze the coverage of the sports notebook of the newspaper O Globo during the editions of the Paralympic Games from 1988 to 2016. For this, news was collected in the online collection of the newspaper O Globo, three days before and three days after the end of each edition of the Paralympic Games from 1988 to 2016, later, were analyzed and interpreted with the help of Atlas.ti 7.5.18 software, from the documentary analysis technique. There was a tendency to report the sports achievements of athletes using derogatory terminologies or emphasizing subjects that had no direct relationship with the sports environment.

Jaqueline Marinho, Fametro University Center - CEUNI

Master in Physical Education - Federal University of Viçosa (UFV), Specialist in Sports and Inclusive Physical Activities - Federal University of Juiz de Fora (UFJF), Graduated in Physical Education - Federal University of Amazonas (UFAM). Professor at the University Center FAMETRO. Teacher at the Municipal Department of Education of Manaus (SEMED). Volunteer teacher in the Motor Activities Program for disabled (PROAMDE/FEFF/UFAM). He has experience in adapted physical education, working in extension projects, Futsal School for People with Disabilities (PROAMDE/FEFF/UFAM), Adapted Physical Activity Program (PROAFA/DES/UFV), and research projects. He is interested in school physical education, adapted physical education, and Paralympic sports.

Carolina Fernandes, Federal University of Santa Catarina

Professor of the Department of Physical Education (DEF), the Graduate Program in Physical Education (PPGEF), and the Graduate Program in Education (PPGE) of the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC). Visiting professor at universität Leipzig in Germany. Post-doctorate in Human Movement Sciences, at PPGCMH of UFRGS. Ph.D. in Human Movement Sciences at PPGCMH/ESEFID/UFRGS, with CAPES scholarship and sandwich period at Charles University in Prague in the Czech Republic. Master in Human Movement Sciences. Specialist in Kinesiology at ESEFID/ UFRGS. Graduated in Physical Education from the University of the Campaign Region. Sôma Leader - Center for Studies in Culture, Body, and Movement of CDS/UFSC. Researcher at the Center for Studies in The History of Sport and Physical Education - NEHME- ESEFID/UFRGS. Member of the board of directors of the Latin Association of Philosophy of Sport (ALFID). Member of the Brazilian Olympic Academy, participant of the 19th International Seminar on Olympic Studies for Postgraduate Students of the International Olympic Academy, held in Olympia - Greece. Research member of the Brazilian Paralympic Academy. Acting mainly on the following topics: Historical and sociocultural studies of Sport, Physical Education, Olympic and Paralympic Sport, the Body, and Epistemology of Physical Education.

Eveline Torres, Federal University of Viçosa

Graduated in Physical Education from the Federal University of Viçosa, Bachelor's degree and Bachelor's Degree (1991); Specialization in School Physical Education from the Federal University of Viçosa (1996); Master's degree (1999) and Doctorate (2005) in Physical Education and Culture from Gama Filho University. She is currently Associate Professor of the Department of Physical Education of the Federal University of Viçosa. He is an effective member of the Graduate Program Associated in Physical Education UFV/UFJF, Master's and Doctorate level. Coordinates PROAFA - Adapted Physical Activity Program that encompasses interdisciplinary extension projects aimed at people with disabilities and/or mental disorders. Research and guidance includethe following topics: people with disabilities, mental disorder, chemical dependence, physical activity and adapted sports, physical activity and aging.
