Abstract

The transition to university education imposes new challenges, and when the student is unable to face them, this is reflected negatively in their health and well-being. The literature has highlighted an increasing number of students with physical and emotional problems, resulting from university experience. Therefore, this study aims to provide an overview of the student illness scenario, specifically of Architecture and Urbanism students at a University in southern Brazil, identifying the cases of physical and emotional disorders among students, resulting from academic experience. A qualitative and quantitative methodological approach is used and the questionnaire is used as the data collection method. The sample corresponds to 46 students who have experienced some difficulty and are willing to participate in the research. As a result, it was found that the course students face many physical and psychological problems, with the existence of a large amount of cognitive, emotional and behavioral symptoms and the need to rethink the course teaching-learning process.
