Focus and Scope
Thema Journal ( Electronic ISSN 2177-2894 ) is a multidisciplinary journal focused on
teaching and education, published continuously and published by the Federal Institute of Education, Science, and Technology Sul-rio-grandense ( IFSul ). This journal´s editorial management is automated through Open Journal Systems ( OJS ), a computer
application for managing and publishing electronic journals developed by the Public Knowledge Project ( PKP ) at the University of British Columbia. Article submission is continuous and conducted exclusively through this website. Submitted articles will be evaluated using a blind review process. Currently, Thema Journal is indexed in Google Scholar ( Google 's search tool that allows you to search academic papers, school
literature, university newspapers and various articles), in Latindex (Regional Online Information System for Scientific Journals from Latin America, the Caribbean, Spain and Portugal), in DOAJ (Directory of Open Access Journals), in UlrichsWeb (a detailed, easy-to-search source of information that gives access to 300,000 publications, including academic, research, electronic journals, peer-reviewed titles, well-known journals, newspapers, newsletters), in CrossRef (the official digital object identifier registration agency of the International DOI Foundation ), in LiVre - Open Access Journals, and in the Sucupira Platform (a tool for collecting information, carrying out analyses and evaluations and serving as the reference base for the National Postgraduate System of Brazil ) of CAPES (Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel - a
foundation linked to the Ministry of Education of Brazil that works in the expansion and
consolidation of stricto sensu postgraduate studies in all Brazilian states).
Peer Review Process
Submitted papers will be reviewed by double-blind peer review by at least two external reviewers , selected based on their expertise and/or affinity with the thematic content of the papers under consideration. If there is disagreement regarding acceptance or rejection,
by the two external reviewers appointed, a third reviewer, also external, will be appointed to break the tie and determine the editorial decision. Following the reviewers
evaluation, the Scientific Committee recommends whether to publish the paper to the editorial board. Thema´´s reviewers, representing each area of knowledge, are selected by the journal´s Scientific Committee.
Papers will be published in the order they were reviewed. Approved papers that are not included in the next issue will be scheduled for the following issue. The author will be
notified and may choose to remove the article from the publication list. Papers that are not accepted will be returned with due justification.
Only the authors indicated at the time of submission will be included in the final version if the article is accepted for publication in the journal. Therefore, requests to include new co-authors during the review and editing process, or even after publication, WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.

Open Access Policy
This journal provides immediate open access to its content, based on the principle that making scientific knowledge freely available to the public promotes greater global democratization of knowledge. Therefore, copyright holders of published academic works grant usage rights under an open license ( Creative Commons CC BY NC Deed -Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International - Creative Commons), allowing users the right to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, link directly to the full texts of articles published in it, crawl them for indexing, pass them as data to software, or use them for any other lawful purpose. The Journal adheres to the DOAJ definition of open access.
Journal History
The first issue of Thema Journal was published in 1997. The journal was printed and fully funded by the Federal Technical School of Pelotas (ETFPel). It was originally conceived to showcase the work of its professors and researchers.
To better align the journal with the requirements set forth in the instrument that guides CAPES´´s evaluation of scientific journals in 2010, our Instituto Federal Sul-rio-grandense (IFSul) implemented a significant set of changes, allowing it to be published digitally. The
journal was also open to submissions from researchers from all institutions in Brazil and abroad.
