Abstract

Nanotechnology is an area of constant expansion, including studies of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs). To obtain them involve chemical processes that can generate toxic waste. This research aims at the use of sustainable technique that aims to use natural extracts as reducing agents and stabilizers, replacing toxic chemical reagents. In the study was used hydroalcoholic extract of Bauhinia forficata L. (BF) and silver nitrate (AgNO3) as precursor agent. The characterization was performed by Visible Ultraviolet Spectroscopy (UV-Vis), pH influence, X-ray diffraction (XRD), ANOVA statistical analysis and bactericidal effect on Staphylococcus aureus - ATCC25923 (S. aureus) and Escherichia coli - ATCC25922 (E. coli). The spectra showed the formation of AgNPs in the characteristic region and considerable stability over time the diffractometer revealed characteristic peaks of the presence of nanoparticles in the samples, and antibacterial activity confirmed by the expressiveness of the inhibition halos. The species S. aureus was the most sensitive strain to nanoparticles, thus showing promising as sustainable bactericidal agents
