To achieve this goal, we adopted a qualitative approach that integrates theoretical analysis, classroom discussions and reflections on practical experiences in the educational setting. The article explores some essential questions about the driven increase in ignorance and its ramifications for education and society, especially in the face of technological advances and the rapid spread of misinformation and disinformation on digital platforms. In this sense, based on class discussions, we identified some of the main challenges that science educators may face when working with scientific literacy in different school contexts. Finally, we suggest that being aware of these challenges can be a first step towards facing emerging problems, aiming to inspire other pedagogical actions that start from ignorance to produce knowledge.
Juliana Fraga Marcelo Eichler Copyright (c) 2025 Revista Thema 2025-09-23 2025-09-23 24 2 1 18 10.15536/revistathema.24.2025.3986 The The game as element of cultural heritage mediation https://periodicos.ifsul.edu.br/index.php/thema/article/view/2935
Games have been used as teaching resources in different educational contexts. This is a multiple case study with semi structured interviews that included publications related to the virus in order to identify and analyze participants emotional responses based on the theoretical work of Ekman, Damásio and Bellocchi. The results demonstrated sadness, surprise, and contempt. Anger, contentment, fear, and aversion were less frequently expressed. These emotions emerged in response to attitudes of persons who refused to comply with protective measures against Covid-19; rapid spread of the disease and its repercussions on digital media; and the number of cases reduction with in-person activities returning. This study may contribute to reflections for strategies that minimize the impacts of the post-pandemic context in adolescents lives and the digital media influence over them.
Sylmara Castro Vianna Pedro Donizete Colombo Junior Copyright (c) 2025 Revista Thema 2025-09-23 2025-09-23 24 2 1 21 10.15536/revistathema.24.2025.3547 Between Memories and Resistance: https://periodicos.ifsul.edu.br/index.php/thema/article/view/3945
This article proposes to analyze different theories about memory, from a critical and dialogical perspective, paying attention to, above all, the approaches of pioneering scholars on the subject, with the aim of discussing their concepts, crossed by different authors, in the attempt to discuss the dimension narrative of the memory of historical traumas. In this way, this work deals with the crossings between the practices of obliteration and manipulation of reminiscences of traumatic events of a historical dimension, through the uses and abuses of memory, seeking to understand that, just as the narrative dimension of memory contributes to silencing and exclusions in the public sphere, their contributions with regard especially to “counter-history”, can be taken as tools for social transformation in the present, through the rewriting of the past.
Nathalia Vieira Ribeiro Copyright (c) 2025 Revista Thema 2025-09-23 2025-09-23 24 2 1 13 10.15536/revistathema.24.2025.3945 Scientific Initiation https://periodicos.ifsul.edu.br/index.php/thema/article/view/2905
This paper analyses the Institutional Programs for Scientific Initiation Scholarships funded by the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq). Finally, we understand that live broadcasts will continue beyond the social distancing requirements imposed by the coronavirus. Therefore, knowing and appropriating their potential in learning and research paths means committing to teacher training in our historical-social context.
Tayná Laureth Roberta Andressa Pereira Daniela Tomio Copyright (c) 2025 Revista Thema 2025-10-01 2025-10-01 24 2 1 21 10.15536/revistathema.24.2025.3523 Predictors of suicidal ideation in university health area students https://periodicos.ifsul.edu.br/index.php/thema/article/view/3171

Death by suicide is a public health problem and its consequences have reached worldwide proportions. The central problem considers the discussion about inequalities in educational governance in a military context, specifically regarding civil teaching activities in the Humanities, to be emerging. The starting question is: what are the devices that legally support the materialization of governance of civil teaching activities in the barracks? Through a single case study anchored in the humanities, a corpus was developed based on theoretical, normative, documentary, and self-narrative sources. The analysis encompassed specialized literature, regulatory and legal policies, as well as decision-making processes related to teaching activities. The investigation verified that governance in the barracks defines the management of processes and people in a distinct way compared to civil governance. Dissonances were identified in teaching assignments, both in conceptual and normative aspects, when compared to assignments in civil public institutions and other military organizations. The divergent understandings about teaching assignments revealed they impact less on teaching autonomy than on scientific research, especially those associated with the humanities. The study points to the urgency of expanding the discussion about governance and management in the military context, contributing to a deeper understanding of the integration of civil teaching practices in the barracks. Thus, we aim to investigate representations of contemporary masculinities made visible by the narratives of seven young men who describe themselves as belonging to cultures related to the musical styles of Kpop, Rap and Rock. We understand culture as every manifestation of a human group, which means understanding different musical styles as cultural dimensions. As a methodological strategy, we used narrative interviews, which were carried out virtually, using tools that allowed video calls to be made. In the narratives of the young people, it was possible to see a distancing from representations of “traditional/hegemonic” masculinities and that sought other forms of plural/dissident/queer representations. As results, we highlight that, even the different musical styles mentioned make visible certain postures as representative of masculinity, young men (re)constitute meanings and (re)define, based on plurality, the exercise of masculinity.
The data was organized into three categories of analysis: institutional culture and interactions with colleagues; student interactions and profiles; and coping or escape strategies. Institutional culture was perceived as an influential element in teachers' daily lives. Interactions with students show the democratization of academic access in recent years. The development of strategies to deal with and/or escape from adverse or conflicting situations was reported by teachers, including resilience. The conclusion is that the first years of teaching are a period of survival and discovery. The main themes produced from the analysis of the questions were: feedback regarding the page, pornography, gender ideology, women's health, female taboos in society, doubts about products and shame in purchasing them, complaints and content suggestions. These themes reinforce the prohibitions represented by the woman's body and the expression of her sexuality. The aim of this research was to identify the quality process control used by wineries from Santa Catarina - Brazil, and correlated them with the perception of quality identified by the consumers of catarinense wines. Qualitative research was carried out using an online questionnaire including the free word association technique. The results indicated that the Santa Catarina wineries participating in the research (n=39) preferentially use Good Manufacturing Practices as a quality tool, and more frequently associated words linked to process dimensions (36.36% ) and sensory attributes (26.36%) to define wine quality. For consumers of wine from Santa Catarina, quality was most frequently associated with the dimension of sensory attributes (69.3%) and then with terms related to the product, such as visual identity and product. It is observed that the wine industry and consumers are consistent regarding the importance of sensory aspects in the perception of quality of a wine from Santa Catarina. On the other hand, this study demonstrates important gaps corresponding to wine consumption and production habits in Santa Catarina, as aspects such as quality and sustainability were poorly correlated. Thus, the data from this research will help in the development of the wine sector in Santa Catarina, supporting industries in improving their processes with a focus on the quality and positioning of their products.
Phosphate fertilization promoted greater seedling growth, increased the yield components, the proportion between total shoot dry matter and grain production, in addition to increasing the concentration of minerals P, Ca, Mg, Fe and Zn. Seeds produced under greater availability of phosphorus present less loss of solutes during imbibition in the tests of electrical conductivity and potassium leaching and produce seedlings with higher rates of emergence speed, dry matter, and leaf area of seedlings.
Gustavo Zimmer Thais Ongaratto de Camargo Zimmer Cristina Rossetti Bruno Lemos Batista Rodrigo Mendes Pereira Géri Eduardo Meneghello Lilian Vanussa Madruga de Tunes Copyright (c) 2025 Revista Thema 2025-09-23 2025-09-23 24 2 1 16 10.15536/revistathema.24.2025.3791 Modeling of rice production areas in southern Brazil, under extreme climate scenarios https://periodicos.ifsul.edu.br/index.php/thema/article/view/3143
Rice is an important brazilian agricultural product, with the Rio Grande do Sul state being the largest national producer, furthermore, agriculture is an activity extremely dependent on climatic conditions. The objective of this work is to show how future climate change scenarios can directly affect rice production capacity in southern Brazil, using maximum entropy mathematical modeling for the prediction of areas favorable to the crop today and in two extreme scenarios, from 2021 to the year 2100. The data reveal that in any future scenario there is a projection of a reduction in productive areas and a fragmentation of these areas, which will require different strategies to face this effect of climate change on rice production in southern Brazil.
Luciano Moura de Mello Simone Erotildes Teleginski Ferraz Copyright (c) 2025 Revista Thema 2025-09-23 2025-09-23 24 2 1 18 10.15536/revistathema.24.2025.3143 Canonical correlations for radish (Raphanus sativus l.) The objective of this work was to estimate the linear relationships among growth variables, to evaluate groups of shoot and root variables by analyzing canonical correlations and the genetic distance among the three radish cultivars. The experimental design was a randomized block design, organized in a factorial scheme: three (radish cultivars) x seven (collection times of plants 13, 16, 19, 22, 25, 28 and 31 days after sowing), arranged in four replicates. The plants were collected at regular intervals of three days, starting on the thirteenth day after sowing until the end of the growing cycle. The variables analyzed in each collection were: number of leaves, leaf area, transverse and longitudinal diameter, root length, shoot, root and total dry matter. The obtained data were submitted to a joint analysis, and the measured variables were submitted to linear correlation with the significance based on the t test at 1 and 5% of probability, this analysis had the intention of evidencing the trend of linear association for the variables and analysis of canonical correlations. Radish plants with larger leaf area demonstrate lower root development, based on the coefficient of canonical correlation. There were positive correlations among all the analyzed variables, especially the leaf area with dry matter, plant height and leaf number.
Tiago Pedó Tiago Zanatta Aumonde Geison Rodrigo Aisenberg Maicon Nardino Vinícius Jardel Szareki Ivan Ricardo Carvalho Francine Lautenchleger Cristina Rossetti Lilian Vanussa Madruga de Tunes Velci Queiróz de Souza Willian Silva Barros Francisco Amaral Villela Copyright (c) 2025 Revista Thema 2025-09-23 2025-09-23 24 2 1 10 10.15536/revistathema.24.2025.3799 Natural regeneration as a technique for restoring an area after bauxite mining, Minas Gerais, Southeast Brazil https://periodicos.ifsul.edu.br/index.php/thema/article/view/3568
The objective of this study was to evaluate the floristic composition, phytosociological parameters, and chemical attributes of the soil to assess the efficiency of exclusive natural regeneration for forest restoration in an area after 6 years of bauxite mining. The forest inventory was conducted for all individuals with a Circumference at Breast Height (CBH) ≥ 10 cm, and phytosociological parameters were analyzed using Fitopac 2.1 software. The area showed dominance of early succession species (pioneers and early secondary). The study revealed a low floristic diversity (H’=1.374) as well as equitability (J’=0.48), with the dominance of the genus Vernonanthura. The natural regeneration technique has proven to be efficient in soil coverage and has contributed to the recovery of soil attributes such as organic matter, soil pH, sum of bases, cation exchange capacity, total-N, and an increase in nutrients (K, Ca, Mg, Mn, and Zn). To enhance floristic diversity and expedite the restoration process in this area, we recommend controlling invasive grasses, enriching the area by planting seedlings of native species from more advanced succession stages, and employing nucleation techniques.
Diego Balestrin Sebastião Venâncio Martins Wesley da Silva Fonseca Copyright (c) 2025 Revista Thema 2025-09-29 2025-09-29 24 2 1 16 10.15536/revistathema.24.2025.3568 Influence of multiple water uses on an cross-border watershed in South America https://periodicos.ifsul.edu.br/index.php/thema/article/view/3429
Knowing water behavior of water, such as flow and level in a watershed is extremely important to manage its multiple uses adequately. One of the models that has been highlighted by several studies and strategies to diagnose and understand hydrological processes and, consequently, define multiple water uses, is the Large Basin Model (MGB). The Mirim-São Gonçalo watershed (MSGW), which is a cross-border basin that stretches over the extreme south of Brazil and northeastern Uruguay, has significant environmental, economic, political and social importance to the population that lives there. This study aims at applying the distributed MGB to the MSGW to describe hydrodynamic processes and fluctuation resulting from water levels by considering input and output in the system, natural and anthropic ones, based on the Water Exploitation Index (WEI) and the Water Commitment Index (WCI). Results show that the adapted MGB enabled to simulate hydrological-hydrodynamic characteristics in the MSGW when information on winds were inserted. Results of the Brazilian part of the basin were better due to the distribution of input data. Regarding multiple uses, both the WCI and the WEI clearly show that the Uruguayan part of the basin is in a comfortable situation, in contrast with the Brazilian part, which needs special and criterial care since its situation is more critical.
Lukas dos Santos Boeira Gilberto Loguercio Collares Gabriel Borges dos Santos Thais Magalhães Possa Viviane Santos Silva Terra Copyright (c) 2025 Revista Thema 2025-09-29 2025-09-29 24 2 1 27 10.15536/revistathema.24.2025.3429 Pathological manifestations caused by humidity https://periodicos.ifsul.edu.br/index.php/thema/article/view/3047
Moisture is one of the most aggressive agents in buildings, which can generate unscheduled costs and compromise the performance conditions and durability of buildings. Thus, the proper use of the waterproofing system is essential for the prevention of pathological manifestations caused by humidity, which encourages research in order to better understand the influence of humidity on the deterioration of the constituent systems of buildings as well as the main techniques used. to ensure the water tightness of buildings. In this perspective, the present case study aims to carry out a qualitative and quantitative analysis of the main pathological manifestations caused by humidity in a public building located in Natal-RN, with emphasis on the evaluation of symptoms, origins, diagnoses, prognoses, and therapies. The results indicated that the execution and design flaws were responsible for the emergence of more than 80% of the evidenced manifestations, such as stains, mold, bubbles, detachments, fissures, and cracks. The flaws in the rainwater drainage project and the absence of the waterproofing project were decisive for the partial demobilization of the waterproofing system, resulting in the appearance of several points of humidity in the internal area of the building.
Jeandson Willck Nogueira de Macedo Copyright (c) 2025 Revista Thema 2025-09-23 2025-09-23 24 2 1 19 10.15536/revistathema.24.2025.3047 Chemical analysis of Matarazzo marble from Arroio Grande (RS) for use in the animal feed industry https://periodicos.ifsul.edu.br/index.php/thema/article/view/3292
The marbles are metamorphic rocks rich in calcium and magnesium with several applications, e.g. cement production, soil PH correction and animal nutrition. Therefore, the present study aims to analyze the application of Matarazzo marble from the Fazenda Brasileira quarry, Arroio Grande, RS, for the animal feed industry. The methodology consisted of a field study of geological controls and the carrying out of chemical analyses on samples of pure and impure marble from Fazenda Brasileira using the Inductively Coupled Plasma Spectrometry Method. The calcium and magnesium content of the samples was measured using national parameters adopted for animal nutrition and compared with data from the Matarazzo quarries, in the same study region, and Mônego, Vila Nova do Sul, RS. Data from the Mônego quarry was used considering that the material is marketed for the purpose of this study. Based on measured data and comparative analysis, pure Matarazzo marble is suitable for use in the animal feed industry, but geological and chemical control is necessary due to the heterogeneity of the material in the studied region.
Emanuélle Soares Cardozo Viter Magalhães Pinto Maele Costa dos Santos Jones Bittencourt Machado Willian Cézar Nadaleti Suyane Gonçalves de Campos Copyright (c) 2025 Revista Thema 2025-09-29 2025-09-29 24 2 1 14 10.15536/revistathema.24.2025.3292
