Neuroscience and planetarium: an educational product for teaching astronomy in the 9th grade

This article describes the development, analysis, and implementation of an educational product aimed at teaching the content "Human Life Beyond Earth," as outlined in the Brazilian National Curriculum Base (BNCC) for the 9th grade of elementary school. The product consists of a didactic e-book structured using an Inquiry-Based Learning approach and an interactive planetarium session grounded in principles of educational neuroscience. The research, of a qualitative-quantitative nature, was conducted with a class of 12 students from a public school in Bagé/RS, over eight sessions (16 class hours). Data were collected through SQA (I Know, I Want to Know, I Learned) assessments, mind maps, terrarium construction, debates, model building, and responses to questionnaires about emotions evoked during the session and about the proposed content. Triangulation revealed significant progress in the three dimensions evaluated—conceptual, procedural, and emotional—showing that the articulation between non-formal spaces, neuroscience, and the Inquiry-Based Learning methodology enhances astronomy education.
